How to choose natural veneer for a project?

The selection of natural veneer should never be accidental. It should result from the character of the investment, the expected visual effect and the budget of the entire project. Different technical criteria apply to huge commercial projects (hotels and offices), and completely different ones to the artisanal production of custom-made furniture for an individual client.

What should be considered when choosing veneer?

Wood species and natural coloring

oak, walnut, or maybe ash? Each tree has its own unique color palette,

Slicing method and grain pattern

do you prefer a striped (straight) pattern, classic flat cut, or half-flat? This has a huge impact on the final look of the fronts,

Repeatability of the material batch

a key issue for larger projects (e.g. wall panels in hotel corridors) to avoid color jumps,

Veneer quality class (A–D)

which you will read more about below.

Natural veneer quality classes (A, B, C, D)

The classification allows you to adjust the price and quality of the veneer to its actual application:

Class A:

Highly representative surfaces (e.g. luxury furniture fronts and tables). Highest selection, clean pattern, minimal defects,

Class B:

Very high quality, maintaining the beautiful, natural character of wood, allowing minor, natural features,

Class C:

Clear naturalness (ideal for rustic or loft style). Small knots and slight color differences are acceptable,

Class D:

Intended mainly for technical elements, invisible “back sides” and the so-called counter-tension of furniture boards.

Proper selection of the veneer class and appropriate leaf selection method allow us to perfectly control the visual quality, budget and repeatability of the grain throughout your project.
